Our Wines
About Us: The Story of Gotberg Winery
„Every drop of wine is an expression of love for the soil and admiration for nature.“
Gotberg Winery was established in 2003 with a single dream – to create wines that tell the story of our landscape. Our vineyards, located in the picturesque village of Popice in the Mikulov sub-region, draw on a rich history dating back to 1366. We are a place where history meets modern approaches, and each of our wines reflects respect for traditions, nature, and terroir.

Our Terroir
Our vineyards lie on the gentle slopes of the Hustopeče highlands with southern and southeastern exposure, providing ideal conditions for growing vines. The soils are diverse and include:
Calcareous clays – for minerality and freshness of wines
Loess – adding fullness and structure
Gravelly sands – supporting flavor concentration
This unique combination of soil, climate, and tradition shapes the character of our wines.

Vineyard Sites
We cultivate 56 hectares of vineyards across five vineyard sites:
Svidrunk – calcareous loess, southeastern exposure
Sonberk – deep loess, southern exposure
Panenský kopec – terraced vineyard, ideal for Gewürztraminer and Pálava
Stará hora – vineyards around the winery house, typical calcareous loess
Unédy – historical vineyard with deep loess and southern exposure

Our Varieties
The key varieties that define the character of our wines include:
- Gewürztraminer (Tramín červený)
- Rhine Riesling (Ryzlink rýnský)
- Pálava

Winery Philosophy

Uniqueness of Gotberg

- Authenticity and precision – every step of production reflects our passion for quality

Winery Building
The winery building received the "Best Industrial Building in the South Moravian Region" award in 2009 and is a beautiful example of modern winery architecture. The structure is designed to blend into the landscape, which is why it is partially embedded into the terrain. Seven rooms are also available for overnight stays after wine tastings. The open terrace offers a beautiful view of the region's landmark, Pálava.
